Ye Lin Myint (Myanmar)
OUTSTANDING LEGAL CONTRIBUTION TO HUMAN RIGHTS

Award Winner 2026
Ye Lin Myint is a Myanmar human rights defender who has dedicated his career to holding corporations accountable for their involvement in human rights abuses in his home country.
From 2016 to 2020, he led the Myanmar Alliance for Transparency and Accountability (MATA), a national civil society network advocating for reform in the natural resources sector. Through MATA, he participated in the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) until Myanmar was suspended following the military coup in 2021.
In 2021, he led a complaint to the Australian OECD National Contact Point against an Australian mining company over its irresponsible disengagement from Myanmar, resulting in an adverse final statement against the company.
He also mobilised civil society organisations to file a complaint with the Norwegian OECD National Contact Point against a telecommunications company over the sale of its Myanmar business to a buyer with ties to the military, putting the personal data of millions of people at risk. The Norwegian National Contact Point found that the company had failed to conduct adequate human rights due diligence and should provide remediation. He is also playing a leading role in an ongoing lawsuit in Norway seeking compensation for victims whose data was allegedly handed over to the military junta.
Ye Lin Myint is the founding Chairperson of the Justice and Accountability Initiative, an organisation dedicated to promoting corporate accountability in Myanmar.
