Committee Member’s Bio

Bob Blackman CBE MP is a distinguished British politician who has served as the Conservative Member of Parliament for Harrow East since 2010. A prominent figure within parliamentary leadership, he serves as the Chairman of the backbench 1922 Committee.

Throughout his parliamentary career, Blackman has been a leading, cross-party voice in defending international democratic principles and challenging authoritarian regimes. As the Chair of the British Committee for Iran Freedom (BCFIF), he has consistently championed global accountability, spearheading major campaigns for targeted sanctions against state-sponsored human rights abusers and advocating for the rights of political dissidents. His enduring commitment to standing against systemic state corruption and oppression aligns directly with the mission of the Sergei Magnitsky Human Rights Awards.
